That is why experts and scholars advocate for an African smart city that can monitor its metropolitan fabric to optimize the usage of resources and infrastructures, conserve the environment, and strengthen connectivity among different social groups.
The smartness of a city is no longer gauged by heavy infrastructure, Dr. Hassan stressed, but rather by light infrastructure via the digital revolution, which makes cities lighter, much more resilient, and even more sustainable.
