Join us for Lecture No. 7 of the ACPPS Seminar Series: Rethinking Aristotle – Motion in the Categories in Arabic Medieval Philosophy, presented by Dr. Ibrahim Safri at UM6P on February 26, 2025

On Wednesday 26th February, the ACPPS’s seminar “Arabic Philosophy and Islamic Theology in the Classical Age” will hold a seminar talk on “Rethinking Aristotle: Motion in the categories in Arabic medieval philosophy” by Ibrahim Safri.

Ibrahim Safri holds a PhD from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and conducts research in logic in the early modern Maghreb and natural philosophy. He is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the ACPPS research center.

In this presentation, he traces the reception of Aristotle’s physical theory of change in Arabic philosophy. Beyond the definition, this seminar explores to what extent medieval Arabic philosophers developed Aristotle’s connection of change with the categories.
