UM6P researchers in the Canary Islands to collaborate on scientific projects

Twelve scientific and technological collaboration projects between Morocco and the Canary Islands have been identified during the third edition of the Africa Canary Islands Challenge program, for which 20 researchers and professors from the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) have moved to the islands, reports the Spanish agency EFE. These projects include initiatives to formulate pharmaceuticals from active compounds isolated from Atlantic Ocean microalgae with leishmanicidal potential and promote the circular economy by converting bio-waste into activated carbon for energy storage and conversion systems.
The government of the Canary Islands also highlighted among these projects those aimed at developing a convolutional neural network model for estimating the bone age of children using anteroposterior wrist X-rays, or for recycling and recovering brine from seawater desalination plants for industrial applications.
