UM6P Campus in Benguerir | Wednesday, June 07th
On Friday, May 6, UM6P invites you to an online seminar dedicated to one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the future of African agriculture in the face of complex, interconnected crises.

Under the theme “Systems Thinking for Wicked Problems: Rethinking Agriculture in Africa”, this session will delve into the overlapping challenges of climate change, resource degradation, demographic pressures, and social inequalities—factors that form what are often referred to as “wicked problems.” These multifaceted issues defy linear solutions and call for a systemic, transdisciplinary approach.
Through the lens of agroecology, sustainable intensification, and circular economy frameworks, the discussion will explore how systems research can generate holistic insights that integrate social, environmental, economic, and biophysical dimensions. From mechanization innovations to urban agriculture initiatives, real-world case studies will demonstrate how this approach can reveal trade-offs, unlock synergies, and inform sustainable, context-specific solutions.
We look forward to your participation in this exchange on shaping resilient agricultural futures for Africa.
