AI is still considered an emerging technology, which means that we, as a community, still working collectively on how to adopt it. This phase of integrating AI into our society can reveal the different issues that this technology still needs to improve. I can cite the ethical concerns that arise when technologies like autonomous vehicles start to appear, or the lack of explainability and transparency of the different decisions that an AI may make, which are fundamental points in some fields like banking and finance.
Another big challenge facing AI concerns data: even if a huge amount of data can be generated thanks to the advance of some technologies like IoT, it is still important to check the quality, and avoid any bias which is not always easy. Those different issues are in my point of view a natural phase that any new technology should go through. I believe that utilizing collective intelligence is a sound approach to addressing these challenges.
This can be accomplished by collaboratively identifying issues and iteratively adapting the technology. Moreover, education plays a critical role in addressing issues related to the speed of technology integration and societal acceptance, and this by demystifying this technology at different levels and helping new generations acquire the necessary technology.
