On 9 and 10 April 2025, the Rabat campus of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) became the epicenter of the global football industry as it hosted the World Football Summit (WFS) 2025. The event brought together 85 speakers from 70 countries and welcomed more than 800 attendees from across the globe. The summit was honoured by the presence of Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Hicham El Habti, President of UM6P, Jan Alessie, Managing Director of WFS, Ismail Lyoubi, General Manager of Evosport, and Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, as a special guest.

A Continent-Wide Vision: “Cultivating the Future of the World Cup for Africa”

Held under the theme “Cultivating the Future of the World Cup for Africa,” the summit underscored how football can become a strategic lever for the development of talent and infrastructure across the continent. In partnership with the FRMF and Evosport—UM6P’s dedicated sports subsidiary—the summit gathered some of the biggest names in football to reflect on how African nations can shape the future of the sport both locally and globally. The dialogue focused not only on the sporting dimension but also on broader social and economic development goals.

Innovation, Investment, and Infrastructure at the Core

The two-day event explored football’s intersection with critical sectors such as artificial intelligence, technology investment, sustainability in sports, and infrastructure development. These conversations attracted not only football enthusiasts but also policymakers, business leaders, and institutional representatives seeking to leverage the sport as a transformative tool. Particular attention was given to the 2030 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, a milestone that places African football firmly on the global map.

WFS 2025: A Platform for Cross-Continental Collaboration

As an action-oriented forum, World Football Summit 2025 served as a powerful platform for dialogue and collaboration between public institutions, private investors, sports organizations, and academic institutions. Its outcomes aim to fuel long-term partnerships and scalable initiatives for African football’s advancement, from grassroots development to elite competition. The summit reaffirmed UM6P’s commitment to being a catalyst for impactful conversations and innovation across the African continent.
