Prof. Rachid Guerraoui honored with the 2024 ACM Luiz André Barroso Award

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has awarded Professor Rachid Guerraoui the inaugural ACM Luiz André Barroso Award in recognition of his outstanding theoretical and applied contributions to the field of distributed computing, as well as his long-standing commitment to advancing computer science across Africa.

Prof. Guerraoui’s research has significantly shaped the development of robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems, with major influence on both academic thought and real-world applications. Beyond his scientific achievements, he is widely acknowledged for his dedication to empowering future generations of African computer scientists and supporting the continent’s digital transformation.

The award will be officially presented at the ACM Awards Banquet to be held in San Francisco on June 14, 2025.
