Times Higher Education 2026 ranking places Mohammed VI Polytechnic University among the world’s elite institutions

University Mohammed VI Polytechnic has entered the Top 400 universities worldwide, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) 2026 ranking. This achievement marks a remarkable progression from its inclusion in the Top 500 in 2025, establishing UM6P as the leading university in Morocco and North Africa, and the fourth on the African continent. This new distinction underscores the University’s rapid evolution as a hub of scientific excellence, research, and innovation with a growing international footprint.
Driving Scientific Excellence and Global Recognition
The Times Higher Education 2026 edition evaluated more than 2,190 universities from 115 countries using 18 indicators across five key dimensions: teaching, research quality, research environment, international outlook, and industry relations. Within this rigorous framework, UM6P ranked between 351st and 400th place, reaffirming its scientific and institutional maturity on the global stage.
Between 2020 and 2025, UM6P’s researchers produced over 6,600 indexed scientific publications, with 85 % appearing in Q1 journals — a benchmark of global research excellence — and generating nearly 84,000 citations. The University now counts more than 379 permanent faculty members and 1,300 doctoral candidates, reflecting the consolidation of its advanced research and doctoral training ecosystem.
Empowering Talents Across Africa
UM6P currently welcomes 8,756 students from 40 nationalities, with women representing 55 % of the student body. Its 45 academic programs are designed to cultivate scientific rigor, entrepreneurial mindset, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Beyond academia, UM6P’s impact resonates through its network of incubators and accelerators, which have supported over 1,600 startups and project leaders across Africa, while training 5,500 young entrepreneurs in innovation and acceleration programs.
