UM6P and Timbuktu Institute Celebrate 60 Years of Morocco–Senegal Cooperation

University Mohammed VI Polytechnic and the Timbuktu Institute jointly organized a symposium at UM6P’s Laayoune campus to commemorate 60 years of Morocco–Senegal cooperation.

The event celebrated two major milestones: the signing of the 1965 foundational agreement between the two countries and the 50th anniversary of the Green March—both emblematic moments of a shared history rooted in vision, solidarity, and African unity.

Bringing together over 200 participants, including academics, policymakers, and institutional representatives from both nations, the symposium featured three thematic panels exploring:

  • The historical and diplomatic trajectory of Moroccan–Senegalese relations,
  • Academic mobility and joint research programs,
  • The role of entrepreneurship and food sovereignty in shaping future cooperation.

Through these discussions, UM6P and the Timbuktu Institute reaffirmed their joint commitment to strengthening academic partnerships, advancing sustainable development, and fostering a new generation of African collaboration built on shared knowledge and mutual respect.
