Why AI in medicine must include Africa!

Despite being the foundation of modern healthcare, pathology remains underdeveloped in many African regions. Through the AMONuSeg dataset, Post-Doctoral Researcher Hasnae Zerouaoui is working to ensure that AI-powered pathology tools are designed to meet Africa’s unique medical challenges.

Communicating Science: The importance of an African perspective in AI-driven medicine.

Pathology is the foundation of modern medicine, yet much of Africa remains underserved. Post-Doctoral researcher Hasnae Zerouaoui is developing AMONuSeg, a dataset designed to ensure that AI-driven pathology reaches Africa.

It provides much-needed real-world histopathology data, ensuring that machine learning models are trained on images that reflect the conditions of African laboratories.
