Training on Satellite Atmospheric Data Validation and Application for Africa (SATVA)

Advancing Climate Monitoring and Scientific Capacity Across Africa

The African Research Center on Air Quality and Climate (ARC Air), in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA), Clean Air Task Force (CATF), UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO), and the EO Africa Research and Development Facility, is hosting a specialized course on “Satellite Atmospheric Data Validation and Application for Africa (SATVA).”

The African Research Center on Air Quality and Climate (ARC Air) is organizing a training program titled “Satellite Atmospheric Data Validation and Application for Africa (SATVA)”, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), Clean Air Task Force (CATF), the International Methane Emissions Observatory (UNEP-IMEO), and the EO Africa Research and Development Facility.

The training will take place from April 14th to 18th at 9:00 AM, within the UM6P Campus in Benguerir (Taroudant amphitheater at the Convention Center).

This event will bring together researchers from across Europe and Africa to strengthen scientific capacity in satellite remote sensing and data validation. It will offer both theoretical and practical sessions on leveraging atmospheric data to inform public decision-making and support climate and environmental policy development.

Topics will include air quality degradation, its impacts on health and agriculture, and methane emissions, which are being intensified by climate change.
