From April 7 to 9, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic participated in GITEX Africa 2026 as a scientific partner.
The event was held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in Marrakech.

GITEX Africa is one of the continent’s most influential technology gatherings.
It provided a platform to engage with global leaders, policymakers, and innovators.

Throughout the event, UM6P played an active role in shaping high-level discussions on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and technological sovereignty.

Prominent contributions included:

  • Rachid Guerraoui, President of the Computer Science Advisory Board, who addressed the future of distributed systems and AI governance
  • Jalal Charaf, Chief Digital & AI Officer, who shared insights on digital transformation strategies in emerging ecosystems
  • Reda Loudiyi, CEO of Atlas Cloud Services, who highlighted the role of infrastructure and cloud technologies in enabling scalable innovation

These interventions therefore underscored the university’s commitment to bridging advanced research with real-world applications, particularly in the African context.

A key highlight of this participation was the presence of Atlas Cloud Services (ACS), an entity affiliated with University Mohammed VI Polytechnic, which showcased advanced capabilities in:

  • Cloud computing
  • Data center solutions
  • High-performance digital infrastructure

This demonstration emphasized the university’s ability to support large-scale innovation ecosystems through robust technological foundations, enabling startups, researchers, and institutions to scale impactful solutions.

In parallel, the Morocco Fintech Accelerator (MFA) program took center stage during a dedicated session, presenting innovative solutions developed by its 2025 cohort.

On this occasion, Yassine Laghzioui, Chief Entrepreneurship and Venturing Officer and CEO of UM6P Ventures, delivered a keynote.
He highlighted the university’s vision for fintech as a lever for financial inclusion and economic transformation.

He reaffirmed the role of the MFA program in:

  • Connecting startups with key financial stakeholders
  • Accelerating innovation cycles
  • Structuring a dynamic and resilient fintech ecosystem in Africa

Beyond visibility, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic used GITEX Africa 2026 to formalize partnerships with academic, industrial, and governmental stakeholders.

These agreements reflect a long-term commitment to:

  • Capacity building
  • Co-development of innovative solutions

By strengthening these collaborations, the university continues to expand its global network while reinforcing its impact at the continental level.

The entrepreneurial dimension of UM6P was further illustrated through the participation of eight startups founded by 1337 students and alumni.

These ventures showcased solutions across key sectors, including:

Their presence not only reflects the strength of the university’s entrepreneurial ecosystem but also highlights its ability to nurture talent capable of addressing complex, real-world challenges.

Through its participation in GITEX Africa 2026, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic once again showed its unique positioning at the intersection of science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
