A delegation of envoys accredited to Morocco discovers how University Mohammed VI Polytechnic is shaping African research, sustainability, and global cooperation.
A UM6P diplomatic visit brought around 30 ambassadors and representatives of international organizations to the Benguerir campus of University Mohammed VI Polytechnic last Thursday. Organized by the Fondation diplomatique, the visit aimed to deepen cooperation between Morocco and its international partners. Moreover, it offered the delegation a close look at one of Africa’s most advanced research universities.
The event placed University Mohammed VI Polytechnic at the center of Morocco’s science diplomacy. As a result, it confirmed UM6P’s role as a strategic bridge between the Kingdom, the African continent, and the wider world.

The delegation toured several key infrastructures across the Benguerir campus. These included the Digital Learning Lab, advanced materials and engineering laboratories, the 1337 coding school, and StartGate, the university’s startup acceleration platform.
Each stop highlighted a core pillar of the UM6P diplomatic visit: applied research, entrepreneurship, and African-rooted innovation. Therefore, ambassadors gained a clear view of how University Mohammed VI Polytechnic translates research into real solutions for the continent.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdelati Habek, President of the Fondation diplomatique, noted that UM6P reflects an enlightened Royal Vision. According to him, this vision places human capital at the core of sustainable development.

Damien Patrick Donovan, Ambassador of Australia, praised the campus architecture and the quality of research conducted in Benguerir. Furthermore, he called for greater scientific exchange with Australian universities.
Kazimbaya Shakilla Umutoni, Ambassador of Rwanda, described UM6P as “an African pride.” Moreover, she emphasized the university’s role in training a new generation of African talent, especially in agriculture and technology.
